Responsibilities and Missions of the National Authority in charge of the Convention against Corruption

 1. Formulating executive plans and guidelines on the implementation of the provisions of the convention
2. Exchanging information and experience – on the convention – with competent individuals the convention is about, while observing the country’s expediency and taking account of the guidelines adopted by the National Authority

3. Making coordination between organizations, institutions and individuals the convention is about, and, if needed, contributing to growing interdepartmental cooperation in line with the implementation of the convention
4. Identifying the legislative, executive and judicial shortfalls and requirements, and offering reports and proposals to related authorities
5. Establishing contact with the secretariat of the convention and related groups in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
6. Taking part in efforts to prepare, formulate and follow up the approval of bilateral or multilateral agreements and MOUs, and contributing to efforts to regulate relations with other governments and international organizations aimed at pursuing international cooperation on the implementation of the convention and optimal utilization of its potential
7. Preparing, regulating and offering review reports – both periodic and case by case – of the Islamic Republic of Iran in cooperation with related agencies
8. Managing and steering the review by the Islamic Republic of Iran of fellow member countries
9. Picking and introducing liaison officer(s) in coordination with related bodies to facilitate effective contact – if needed – between competent authorities, both at home and abroad, within the framework of bilateral agreements or arrangements
10. Assisting executive bodies, non-governmental organizations and the private sector to train and boost their required scientific and practical strength in line with measures to prevent corruption and fight it, and if necessary, provision and exchange of scientific and research-based information
11. Cooperating with related bodies to raise public awareness, among other things, through launching a website
12. Monitoring and constantly following up the implementation of the provisions of the convention and evaluating the [implementation] process
13. Having effective participation in the activities of the assembly of member states and related institutions in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in cooperation with other competent institutions at home, follow-up, coordination and supervision of the implementation of the decisions of the assembly within the framework of domestic rules and regulations.
