Duties, missions and plans
The duties and powers of the National Council on Policymaking and Coordination between Executive Bodies on Intellectual Property are as follows:
1. Making policies at a national level, adopting approaches and developing the necessary intellectual property strategies
2. Making coordination between related executive institutions and judicial bodies on the intellectual property front
3. Reviewing and commenting on the proposed bills and plans which are somehow related to intellectual property
4. Making efforts to promote the culture of intellectual property and institutionalizing it in executive bodies as well as in public and non-state institutions
5. Making planning and coordination to develop and promote intellectual property, and offer public training on issues related to it, and boosting cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on intellectual property issues

6. Studying and, if necessary, putting forward proposals – which serve the country’s national interests – on Iran joining treaties and conventions on intellectual property and conveying them to related agencies
7. Establishing cooperation with related authorities to reform laws on intellectual property
8. Supporting measures which are taken to upgrade intellectual property and facilitate related issues
9. Studying and, if necessary, making decisions on the reports and proposals put forward by the president, members and secretary of specialized workgroups
10. Making coordination between executive bodies to carry out studies and research on intellectual property to prevent overlapping measures
11. Organizing national, regional and international conferences on intellectual property rights in coordination with related bodies and in compliance with related rules and regulations
12. Setting the stage for Iran’s participation in national, regional and international conferences on intellectual property rights in coordination with related bodies and in compliance with related rules and regulations
13. Making coordination between executive bodies to prepare the ground for [representatives of] Iran to participate in international conferences which focus on treaties on intellectual property, and making coordination to determine the lineup of delegations which represent the Islamic Republic of Iran in such conferences in compliance with related rules and regulations
14. Establishing cooperation and partnership to organize and coordinate databases, and launching an electronic system to connect with the websites of regional and international organizations which are involved in intellectual property rights, and with research centers at home and abroad
15. Naming the presidents of the specialized workgroups.
